The epoch making films director Kodi Ramakrishna with roots of Karnataka has spoken at length on his Rs.40 crores Kannada and Telugu film ‘Nagarahavu’ for the first time.

Kodi Ramakrishna recouping from ill health is extremely happy for the producers Jayanthilal Gada and Sajid Quereshi plus Mukuta technical team of over 200 persons for the effect shown what he wanted.

Here are the excerpts of an interview with Kodi Ramakrishna held at Shangrila Hotel opposite Mount Carmel College in Bengaluru.

·        I am a fan of Nagarahavu Kannada cinema made in 1972 and Dr Vishnuvardhana. I had told a story to Vishnuji when he was living and he accepted to act. Unfortunately destiny was something. We miss him.

·        To Make a film inspiration is essential. This film has inspiration of the two. It is a Dynamic film – introduction is done very well. So many artists have worked for this film as it would go in other languages besides Kannada and Telugu.

·        There is no connection to forty plus years ago made Nagarahavu. Spirit wise it has. It is a Snake vengeance. Previous birth is focused. We needed dynamic and fit character….very popular wanted. When I was looking for such strong entry in the climax, it was Sajid Quereshi who told me to bring in Dr Vishnuvardhana as he wanted to make a film with him.

·        I told him to recreate it will be very expensive. Graphics is needed. Jayanthilal Gada accepted at this stage. So in climax great dynamic entry and it is a wonder how technical team have worked. Wonder of screen is Vishnu entry. He stays for nearly 10 minutes.

·        I have not repeated things in my films. In this film Vishnuji is specialty. The recreation was tough challenge.

·        This film is heroine oriented. Ramya plays the snake. She has a re birth. The snake appears in positive note. It is dynamic. The star actress, looks, good in acting and she is very fitting. It is emotional best Ramya you would see. She is also very strong point in the film.

·        On the other stars for various languages we have big names that I will disclose later. There are so many types of characters. This is released in Hindi, Tamil and other languages too.

·        Comparison to Arundhati is always there. This is beyond that. Here we have played on emotions. Ramya resemble a great pack of emotions. It will be a great comeback to her in cinema is what everyone is feeling. Performance wise she is tremendous. The story and dynamic part wise this ‘Nagarahavu’ has extremely good elements.

·        Creating a character that look nature is not easy task 200 members worldwide technicians have worked. The chance of going comic was avoided. It is not like a doll we have shown.

·        A dangerous task Makuta department has done with lot of care and attention. Technicians from London, America, Singapore Hyderabad, Chennai have worked. The task was that people should clap and appreciate.

·        The technicians have also got inspired with the thought and their work was studious one.

·        For me this Dr Vishnuvardhana portion was most important because it would be a big plus mark for the Kannada cinema industry.

·        Every time I take up work, competitive task comes to my mind. Attract the people is my sole intention. Come to watch films for entertainment and good experience. We have worked towards those elements.

·        The movie ‘Nagarahavu’ audio release is taking place in June and film release in July.

·        There are 10 songs and all of them are stitched to the story. Each one is different. Gurukiran and his team have done exceedingly well even at re-recording.

·        For the budget, recovery producers should speak. My aim was to touch the Kannada cinema industry with a great film. In fact my first film shot was Vidhana Soudha capture. Vishnuji had seen many of my films and ‘Bharath Bandh’ got appreciation from him.

·        For me the film ‘Nagarahavu’ inspires his fans and entertain them was very important. I hope I have succeeded in it.
